As part of my Media and Marketing degree course I had to complete a six week working placement. The company I chose to spend it at was Campus Industries – and here I am! I couldn’t wait to get started, although the prospect of getting up at 7am every morning didn’t impress me much.
My first day arrived and, not knowing what to expect, I was very nervous. My first day was an introduction to Campus, a bit about the clients they work with, along with a brief history of the company. I quickly found my feet after a few days thanks to the friendly staff showing me the ropes. I soon got put on the Company Magazine account – my job was to spread the word about a competition they had created whereby sixth form students get a chance to contribute to a special edition of the magazine. It was great experience to get involved in such an exciting campaign straight away. I then went on to help with the Virgin Media account and even got involved with some recruitment for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and The Economist.
With just one week left of my six week placement, I have learned so much. Overall it has been fun and challenging and I’m happy I haven’t just been stuck making the tea!
